Up the Creek
Oil on canvas/ 76 x 102 x 4 cm unframed
In my work there is a fascination with memory and its reinterpretation of landscapes, transforming them into third places, hybrids of the remembered and the imagined. In the process of painting, I draw on the imaginative freedom that we might associate with childhood. The abstracted marks on the canvas allow the eye to shift into a sense of reverie, a daydream. I use the word ‘mindscapes’ to describe the work as being between a real and imagined place. That place being Broome, WA.
